About us
WHO WE ARE
Cornerstone is a growing Spirit-filled church in this area. New ministries have been, and continue to be created to help minister to the lives of people. We recognize that church health is more important than numerical growth and church programs. We believe God has a specific plan and purpose for each individual’s life. Whether you’re single, married, single again, with or without children– no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done – we invite you to experience the difference here.
Our Vision
We see Cornerstone as a dynamic, spirit-filled, community church, numbering in the thousands, impacting our city, southern Indiana, and the world through leadership development and church planting.
Our Mission
To introduce people to Jesus Christ, see them filled with the Holy Spirit, disciple them to a Christ-like maturity and to equip them for their ministry and life Mission.
We Believe
-
In the verbal inspiration of the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments
-
Our God is a trinity in unity, manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit;
-
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, and His sinless life, in His resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and his personal return in power and glory;
-
That regeneration by the Holy Spirit for the salvation of lost and sinful man, through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ, is absolutely essential;
-
In a life of holiness, without which no man can see the Lord, through sanctification as a definite, yet progressive, work of grace;
-
In the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, received subsequent to the new birth, with the speaking in other tongues, as the Spirit gives the utterance;
-
In water baptism by immersion for believers only which is a direct commandment of our Lord, in the Name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;
-
In the Lord’s supper, consisting of the elements, bread and the fruit of the vine, as the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ and as a memorial of his suffering and death.
-
That divine healing is provided for in the atonement, and is available to all who truly believe;
-
In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus, first to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the loving saints to meet Him in the air; and second, to reign on the earth a thousand years;
-
In the bodily resurrection of both the saved and lost; they that are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
MEET OUR PASTORS
T.J. & TRISTAN SKILES
Lead Pastors
Pastor T.J. has been involved in ministry for just about as long as he can remember. Growing up in a pastor's home he learned the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus, loving people, and following the call of God on your life. T.J. met his wife, Tristan, at 16 years old, when his family moved to California to pastor a church. They started dating and got married in 2003. Together they have served in various positions including Associate Pastors, Youth Pastors, District Youth Directors, Worship, Media, and Children's ministry. T.J. and Tristan have been blessed with three children, ages 19, 17, and 11.
“There is nothing greater than watching God transform someone’s life. Just being able to love people as they are and watch God work is one of the most rewarding gifts we have been given. God is amazing and can do great things through willing vessels. It’s humbling that the King of King’s would trust us to do his work.”
Pastor T.J.’s favorite scripture:
“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you...”
- James 4:8 (NKJV)
Tristan’s favorite scripture:
“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!“
- Ephesians 3:20 (MSG)
